A small, puffed heart hangs from each hoop, polished until it reflects whatever is around it. In 925 sterling silver it has a cool, mirror-like shine, as in our photograph; in gold-plated silver it turns warm. The hoop is 12 mm across and closes with a click, and the heart swings freely beneath it. A simple way to say something without words: a gift for a name day, a birthday or a mother, and easy to wear every day.
925 silver is 92.5% pure silver, alloyed with other metals for strength. Gold-plated means a thin layer of gold covers its surface, giving the warm yellow colour for a fraction of the price of solid gold. Because the layer is thin, it wears with time and friction, fastest where a piece rubs: the inside of a ring, a clasp, the back of an earring. Perfume, sweat, chlorine and salt water wear it faster. When the silver starts to show, the piece can be plated again. [PLACEHOLDER: owner to state the thickness and caratage of the gold layer, and whether the shop re-plates, and at what cost.]
925 sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver; the rest is other metals, which make it hard enough to wear. It has the bright, cool white of silver all the way through, so there is no layer to wear away. Over time it darkens in air and on contact with some foods, rubber and cosmetics; this is tarnish, a surface film that a silver polishing cloth removes. Wear it often and keep it in a closed pouch, and it stays bright. [PLACEHOLDER: owner to confirm whether silver pieces are left natural or rhodium-plated.]
A mirror polish shows every mark: wipe the hearts with a soft cloth and, in silver, use a silver cloth now and then to keep the shine.
You have 14 days from receipt to withdraw, no reason needed, and 14 days from telling us to send the piece back. Engraved pieces and those made to your specifications are the exception. [PLACEHOLDER: to be reviewed by a lawyer.]
