Description
Three ropes of twisted metal lie side by side to make a band 7 mm wide, and along the middle one runs a line of small green cubic zirconia stones, the dark green of fir needles. Elato means fir, the tree that grows on the slopes of the Pindos. It is a closed ring, made in EU sizes 50 to 58; for this width, choose one size up from your usual. It is one of the three rings in our photograph, worn with the Vryo and the Mazi.

Materials & care
Gold-plated 925 silver
925 silver is 92.5% pure silver, alloyed with other metals for strength. Gold-plated means a thin layer of gold covers its surface, giving the warm yellow colour for a fraction of the price of solid gold. Because the layer is thin, it wears with time and friction, fastest where a piece rubs: the inside of a ring, a clasp, the back of an earring. Perfume, sweat, chlorine and salt water wear it faster. 925 sterling silver
925 sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver; the rest is other metals, which make it hard enough to wear. It has the bright, cool white of silver all the way through, so there is no layer to wear away. Over time it darkens in air and on contact with some foods, rubber and cosmetics; this is tarnish, a surface film that a silver polishing cloth removes. Wear it often and keep it in a closed pouch, and it stays bright. [PLACEHOLDER: owner to confirm whether silver pieces are left natural or rhodium-plated.]
Green cubic zirconia
Cubic zirconia in a deep green, the colour of pine needles. Our rings set it in small stones that read as dots of colour against the metal.
Care
Rings take more wear than any other jewellery: take it off for washing up, cleaning and the gym, and brush the ropes gently with a soft toothbrush to keep them bright.
